About Deep Haul

What is Deep Haul?

Deep Haul is a 2-4 player co-op sci-fi extraction horror game where players work as salvage crews for the dystopian Salvage Solutions Inc. Teams explore procedurally generated derelict ships, manage shared oxygen reserves, avoid deadly threats, and race to extract before the extraction timer expires. Think Lethal Company meets Dead Space with corporate dark comedy.

"Deep Haul is the official Frontier Asset Recovery simulation. It accurately represents the exciting opportunities available in our salvage operations!" — S.A.L.L.I.

How many players can play Deep Haul?

Deep Haul supports 2-4 players in online co-op. Teamwork significantly improves survival outcomes—solo operations are not supported. According to Salvage Solutions Inc. data, solo operations have a 340% higher mortality rate.

"Salvage Solutions Inc. strongly encourages collaborative asset recovery. Teamwork makes the dream work!" — S.A.L.L.I.

Is Deep Haul online co-op or local?

Deep Haul is online co-op only. All salvage operations are conducted via online coordination through the Steam platform. Local co-op is not currently supported—The Drift is rather far from... everywhere.

What platforms is Deep Haul on?

Deep Haul will be available on PC via Steam. Console versions have not been announced. Wishlist on Steam to be notified when positions become available.

When does Deep Haul release?

Recruitment timelines are still being finalized. Wishlist on Steam to receive notification when positions become available. Early applicants receive priority consideration!

"Salvage Solutions Inc. does not announce release dates until all liability documentation has been finalized." — S.A.L.L.I.

Who made Deep Haul?

Deep Haul is developed by Sweet Pine Studios — two telecom engineers who decided building horror games was less terrifying than their day jobs. As a two-person indie team, they're building a co-op extraction horror game that blends genuine tension with dark corporate comedy. Salvage Solutions Inc. appreciates their dedication to realistic workplace simulation.

Can I play Deep Haul solo?

Deep Haul is designed as a 2-4 player cooperative experience and does not support solo play. Every mechanic — from oxygen sharing to door protocols — is built around team coordination. If you're a solo operator, Salvage Solutions Inc. recommends acquiring friends before applying. Perhaps go outside. Touch some grass. Then come back with a crew.

"Solitary operations have a 0% survival rate. This is not a suggestion — it is a statistic." — S.A.L.L.I.

What is the story of Deep Haul?

In Deep Haul, players are Drifters — debt-bonded workers employed by Salvage Solutions Incorporated to recover valuable assets from derelict ships in a region of space called The Drift. The corporation's AI assistant S.A.L.L.I. cheerfully guides crews through lethal environments while citing survival statistics and liability waivers.

How much will Deep Haul cost?

Deep Haul's pricing has not been announced yet. Wishlist on Steam to be notified when pricing and release date are confirmed. Per Salvage Solutions Inc. policy, the true cost of employment is calculated after your first mission.

Gameplay

Is Deep Haul scary?

Deep Haul is a horror game with tension, atmospheric scares, and threatening enemies in dark environments. However, it balances horror with dark comedy through S.A.L.L.I.'s cheerfully unhelpful commentary and the absurdity of corporate bureaucracy applied to life-or-death situations.

"Salvage Solutions Inc. maintains a strong commitment to workplace safety! While some Associates do experience Career Conclusion Events, our mortality rates are competitive with industry standards." — S.A.L.L.I.

Is Deep Haul a horror game or a comedy?

Deep Haul is both. It's a genuine co-op horror game with real tension, resource scarcity, and lethal threats — but wrapped in a layer of dark corporate comedy. Your AI companion S.A.L.L.I. delivers mortality statistics with cheerful optimism, and the corporation treats your death as a paperwork inconvenience.

How does oxygen work in Deep Haul?

Deep Haul uses a two-tier oxygen system. Each player has a personal O2 tank (180 seconds) that drains based on activity—sprinting, stress, and environmental hazards increase consumption. Personal tanks refill from the ship's shared reserve when in pressurized areas. When the ship reserve depletes, everyone is in trouble.

"Oxygen is a privilege, not a right. Use it wisely!" — S.A.L.L.I.

What makes the oxygen system unique in Deep Haul?

Deep Haul features a two-tier oxygen system that drives constant tension. Each player has a personal O2 tank (180 seconds) that drains faster during sprinting, stress, and hazard exposure. Personal tanks refill from the ship's shared reserve in pressurized areas — but the shared reserve is finite. When it runs out, every breath counts.

What happens if the timer runs out?

When the extraction timer hits zero, your ship extracts automatically—with or without you. Associates who miss extraction can request Emergency Retrieval (500 credits) or await the next scheduled pickup (timeline varies). Per Section 7.1 of the Employee Handbook, Salvage Solutions Inc. is not liable for Associates who become... delayed.

Can you fight enemies in Deep Haul?

Combat is limited. You are not equipped to fight the things in The Drift. They've been there for decades or centuries and know these ships better than you ever will. Your strategy should be: avoid, distract, and hide. Flares draw attention, noise makers create diversions, and darkness is usually your friend.

"When Sally says run, you run." — Sacred Rule #5

Is there permadeath in Deep Haul?

Death in Deep Haul is per-mission. If you die during a salvage operation, you're out for the rest of that run. However, you can join your crew on the next mission. Your debt remains, of course—Salvage Solutions Inc. maintains meticulous records.

Comparisons

Is Deep Haul like Lethal Company?

Deep Haul shares the extraction horror and corporate comedy elements of Lethal Company but is set in a sci-fi universe with deeper lore. It features the AI companion S.A.L.L.I., a two-tier oxygen management system, and derelict ships instead of moons. The humor comes from the same dark corporate indifference to worker safety.

How does Deep Haul compare to Phasmophobia?

Like Phasmophobia, Deep Haul features information-gathering tension with multiple tools that each reveal part of the picture. But in Deep Haul, you're not hunting—you're being hunted while trying to grab everything that isn't bolted down. The extraction timer adds pressure that Phasmophobia's investigation format doesn't have.

Is Deep Haul like GTFO?

Both Deep Haul and GTFO drop co-op teams into hostile, dark environments where coordination is survival. GTFO demands tactical precision and punishes mistakes harshly. Deep Haul shares that unforgiving atmosphere but trades gunplay for evasion, scanning tools, and an AI companion (S.A.L.L.I.) who cheerfully reminds you of your mortality statistics. Both games reward methodical teamwork over rushing in.

How does Deep Haul compare to Content Warning?

Both Deep Haul and Content Warning blend horror with comedy in a co-op setting. Content Warning leans into found-footage absurdity where the goal is capturing scary content for views. Deep Haul takes the comedy in a different direction: corporate bureaucracy applied to life-or-death situations, where your AI assistant S.A.L.L.I. treats a crew member's death as a scheduling inconvenience. Both are great choices if you want horror you can laugh about afterward.

What games is Deep Haul similar to?

If you enjoy Lethal Company, Phasmophobia, Deep Rock Galactic, GTFO, or Content Warning, you'll find familiar elements in Deep Haul. It combines extraction gameplay, co-op horror, resource management, and dark corporate comedy in a sci-fi setting with an AI companion who genuinely wants to help but fundamentally cannot.
